Superb supergroup boygenius are back with 3 new singles!

Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, three of the best indie-folk/singer-songwriter artists this decade created boygenius back in 2018 and released a self-titled EP which has since become a fan-favourite and reached somewhat of a cult status. This work predates seminal and essential solo records from all three members of the trio namely Phoebe Bridger's Punisher, Julien Baker's Little Oblivions and Lucy Dacus' Home Video.

And now... they're back.

That's right boygenius have announced that we will be receiving their debut full-length release this year on March 31st! To mark the occasion they gave us not one, not two, but three whole morsels of indie-folk goodness.

The first of these, titled '$20', is by far and away the riffiest of the three centring around a guitar line that is accentuated in the first section by a bass guitar adding extra stabbiness. As with their first release there is bundles of vocal chemistry here between the three, each adding harmonies and backing vocals to each other's verses and it's awesome.

Following this up we have the beautiful 'Emily I'm Sorry' which is a much more low-key track with ambient sounds whistling gently behind the lone acoustic guitar. Led by Phoebe on the lead vocals this track would fit beautifully on Punisher. The vocal chemistry really comes to the forefront in the chorus here with the echoed vocals from Lucy and Julien. Frankly, it's beautiful.

Finally, we have 'True Blue' which is a more jangly indie tune lead by Lucy Dacus. Lyrically this paints a vivid picture with memorable lines for days such as:

You say you're a winter bitch"

This release has me incredibly excited for the debut. The band have announced they will be playing at Coachella 2023 which gives some hope for a potential tour in the future maybe. You can check the songs out here.
