Live Report: Charlotte Plank at The Boileroom, Guildford

After bursting onto the scene in early 2023 with her third track 'L.S.D. (Love So Damaged)', Charlotte Plank is pioneering a new movement in the drum and bass world, fusing nostalgic drum breaks with indie influences to create a cutting-edge sound.

Charlotte joined us on The GROAT Podcast earlier this month for a lovely chat about the birth of this sound that has roots in the likes of The Cure and Nirvana. GROAT went down to check out her local headline show in Guildford at the iconic Boileroom.

Charlotte's on-stage charisma is there from the off - she's a natural performer who has spent time and care refining her vocal style, which is now a far cry from the first time she played the Boileroom a few years ago.

There's potential for the live show to be taken up a notch, perhaps with the addition of a live band, but for now - it's a breeding ground for the set that is surely going to take the summer by storm. 'Lost Boys' and 'Hate Me' sound at home in an intimate setting, whilst 'L.S.D' - a contender for track of the year so far - provided a mass sing-along already, despite only being out for a few months.

There were plenty of unreleased bangers on display, including a track called 'White Noise' which was a notable highlight, continuing the radio-friendly, luscious vibes on 'L.S.D' with an infectious ability to stay stuck in your head. We had a little teaser at the end of a track that's been tested at none other that Manchester's Warehouse Project - a collaboration with Skepsis and Turno that shows the calibre of names that Charlotte is working with in the studio at the moment.

There's plenty more to come from Charlotte Plank - and this is just the beginning. Look out for her to be dominating pop airwaves in 2023 and beyond.
