Live At Leeds 2023: Five Unmissable Acts

Live At Leeds: In The City returns once again for its annual edition this coming Saturday 14th October. Spanning a range of venues across the city, it's one of the highlights in the Yorkshire music calendar boasting a range of local and national talent, with names such as Shame, Wunderhorse and Kid Kapichi likely to draw some of the biggest crowds. We break down five lesser-known acts that need to be on your radar ahead of Saturday.

Frozemode (14:00, The Key Club)

One of the UK's most exciting offerings in rap at the moment, the trio have released a string of eye-catching tunes that draw influences from punk, grime and all sorts. From the tongue-in-cheek 'Stick Dat' to most recent single 'Making It Up', the trio are guaranteed to be the earliest party starters of the day, bringing their infectious energy and vibes to The Key Club. To gain an insight into the trio, revisit our interview with Frozemode at The Great Escape Festival 2023 via the link below.

SNAYX (19:00, The Key Club)

Another act we spoke to in our GROAT Escape video, Hastings punk trio SNAYX have been tearing up stages around the UK with one of the most infectious, raw live sounds. If you're a fan of dirty basslines, brutally melodic vocal lines and pounding drums, get yourself down to The Key Club for what is sure to be a packed out set, amidst what's looking to be a sold out UK headline tour. Their new EP Better Days is on the way early next year, and its ace lead single gives an insight into a more refined new direction for the group.

Jessica Winter (19:00, Oporto)

Another previous guest on the GROAT Podcast, it's been a phenomenal year for Jessica Winter who has played a host of shows across the UK. Whether its her Broadway-tinged anthem 'Choreograph' or the riff-tastic 'Funk This Up', there's a clear sense of a star in-waiting, spanning across everything that's exciting about modern pop. Genre-bending and fearless, it'll certainly be one of the most visual shows of the festival.

Lynks (11.30pm, Brudenell Social Club)

With a headline date in Leeds announced at The Wardrobe for next April, you'll have to get in quick to secure a spot for this set. The latest set of the night, Lynks will bring their fully choreograph, spellbinding show to Leeds with their collection of fan-favourite queer anthems including 'Silly Boy' and 'Hey Joe (Relax).' Unapologetic and hilarious at the same time, perhaps we can get a sneak peek of a debut album if it's on the cards as of yet.

Ashley Singh (19:30, Northern Guitars)

One of London's most exciting songwriters, Ashley Singh will bring his heartfelt acoustic ballads to Call Lane, just a few doors down from Oporto. Having made waves on TikTok and social media with his unrivalled, angelic voice, the room will be filled with emotion for this set as you're captivated by the messages in tracks like 'Autopilot' and 'Between Love And Lonely.'
